Yesterday saw another two calls for the team, the initial one coming in the early hours (00:45, 18/7/25) with the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) requesting assistance in Sabden, where a casualty was in the beck and needed assistance with extraction.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (Official) were also requested and deployed alongside the team. As initial team members arrived on the scene, it was confirmed that the fire service was able to facilitate the rescue without additional resources or rope equipment, and as such, the team was stood down.
Later on Friday afternoon (14:00 18/7/25), the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) once again requested assistance, this time for a casualty who had fallen from a bike in Lee Mill Quarry, Bacup.
As the team deployed, it was confirmed that the casualty had a suspected dislocated shoulder and that both the HART (Hazardous Area Response Team) and North West Air Ambulance Charity (NWAA) were also en route. NWAA landed on the scene with the casualty, shortly followed by initial team members who went directly.
Required equipment was taken to the casualty’s location, and they were placed onto a stretcher; carried off to one of our vehicles in the quarry and then transported down to the awaiting land ambulance.
We wish the casualties a speedy recovery.
