On Saturday afternoon (13:35 8/11/25), whilst a group of our volunteers were training for their RRMT (remote rescue medical technician) exams – see previous post – we received a request from the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) to assist with an incident near Bacup, where a casualty had come off their motocross bike.
Whilst those members who were at our base training responded with the team response vehicles (including our ATV in case required), other volunteers made their way directly to the location.
The casualty had been riding up at Bacup MX Track, and suffered a back injury when taken a fall. It was expected that the NWAS crew would require additional assistance to ensure the casualty could be transferred safely to the ambulance.
Team members were deployed, and once on scene, the casualty was transferred onto the Bell and Wheel for a short extraction to the awaiting ambulance.
