CALLOUT 76 & 77
December 26, 2025CALLOUT 01
The first callout of the year came this afternoon (Mon, 5/1/26 at 14:40) with a request from the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) to assist at an incident near Barnoldswick.
The casualty had been out enjoying the wintry weather when they suffered an injury to their lower leg, which rendered them immobile on the hillside. Fortunately, the casualty had been assisted to try and stay as warm as possible whilst awaiting assistance.
On the arrival of the team, a local CFR (community first responder) had made their way to the casualty and provided initial care. The team provided further layers and shelter from the cold weather, including a heated/warming blanket. This allowed an assessment of the casualty to be completed by a paramedic on the team, before providing stronger pain relief and then the leg was splinted.
Once packaged, the casualty moved into a winter cas bag (a super thick warm sleeping bag!) before being lifted onto our stretcher and evacuated off the hillside and down the icy road to the awaiting ambulance crew. We wish them a speedy recovery.
