Yesterday evening (18/10/21), at approximately 20:20, the team were contacted by Greater Manchester Police with regards to a person who was lost in the area of Knowl Hill.
The police had had limited contact with the missing person and had an idea of a location, however, called the team to assist in case the situation deteriorated or further assistance was needed in getting them off of the hill.
The was a thick and dense cloud on the top of the moors with little to no visibility. However, fortunately, the casualty was met by police officers who had walked up (with the assistance of a very helpful and knowledgeable local) whilst the team were on their way.
A couple of team members went onto the hill on foot to ensure the group were descending in the correct direction, also followed by the teams Polaris ATV to check on the group’s welfare as they walked back down.
The casualty was safely escorted off of the hill, and extra gratitude has to go to the local who assisted police in locating the casualty.
