This evening (17/01/21) at around 18:15 the team were contacted by Lancashire Police with the 14th callout of the year so far. The request was to assist with a person who was lost whilst biking in the quarry above Hapton, on Hameldon Hill.
Team members, along with the Hilux and ATV Buggy were deployed to an RV above the Hapton Inn, with a small party deployed and making their way towards the casualty on-foot. However, the buggy once again proved its worth to the team and got onto the top, making contact with, and ultimately bringing the casualty (and their mountain bike) down to safety.
The casualty was unharmed from the incident (other than maybe their pride!) and once down, they were happy to make their own way home on their bike as originally planned.
The Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue Team is a fully voluntary organisation which responds to those in need in our local community. The team is on-call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and relies entirely on donations from members of the public to carry out this essential life-saving rescue service.
You can help with the work we do and support the team by texting ‘RPMRT’ and an amount (ie ‘RPMRT 10’) to 70085 to donate today. Alternatively, donate online at www.justgiving.com/RPMRT or further options including setting up monthly donations available through www.donr.com/rpmrt
